Low temperature tapes are primarily designed for labeling in cold storage facilities. They have a special adhesive that allows them to be applied at low temperates. These tapes may be used for labeling during cold weather, as well as for cold storage labeling. As with any other self-adhesive labels, they require a clean, dry surface. Any dirt, debris, ice or lubricants should be cleaned from the surface before applying the label. Tapes are available in 2", 3" and 4" widths in white and yellow.
Reflective materials are used to make labels and signs that will be used in low light conditions. Reflective tapes are available in red, yellow, white, green, orange, gold and blue in sizes from 1/2" to 4" in width.
An example of a reflective tape is shown to the left. This photograph was taken under low light conditions. The lower label was made using standard white tape. The upper label was made using the DuraLabel reflective white tape.
Repositionable tapes can be constantly reapplied without fear of falling off. Repositionable tapes are available in widths from ½" up to 4 inches.
The white repositionable tape has a high gloss finish and is 3.0 mils thick for greater durability. It may be applied at temperatures above 50 degrees F, and has a service temperature range of -40 to 176 degrees F. It resists most acids, alkalis and salt solutions.
Phosphorescent tapes glow in the dark. They are available in 1" up to 4 inch widths. Phosphorescent tapes are only available in one color, light green. When glowing they will be green with black text and graphics.
The image to the right shows a phosphorescent label under normal lighting conditions and then the same label with all lights turned off.
This material is used to make labels that indicate the label has been removed. If someone attemps to remove a tamper evident label, the label will break apart revealing that there was an attempt to remove the label. If the label is removed the word "void" will remain where the label was applied.
These are sometimes also called tamper indicating labels.
Tamper evident labels guard against label removal and label switching. They protect against asset theft, alteration and misuse. They are typical used to identify equipment, to put bar codes on products and material in inventory, and in areas where security is important.
Tamper evident label tape is available in two widths, two inch and one inch, and in white only.
